This is a page which I have setup to link to any articles of general
interest that do not seem to have a home of their own. They might be
ones I have written or ones that others have written.
Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile for the first time and the
feat quickly flashed around the world - (grab your coffee or tea, sit

Landy then struck back with an even better time and the stage was set
for a classic confrontation between the world's best two milers at the
1954 Empire Games. Ray Smith collected the news articles at the time
