VRWC POINTS COMPETITIONS

The Victorian Race Walking Club runs three points competitions during the winter season

Final points for the 2011 Winter Season have now been decided for all 3 competitions. We also had a special 3 week Handicap competition for which prizes were awarded on Saturday 13 August. The results of this are also shown below.

Trophies will be awarded at our Winter Season Presentations on Saturday 3 September 2011.

Our three Points Competitions are explained below

The Handicap Competition

Each athlete who is financial and has previously walked the distance or a similar one in the current season or the previous season will be given a handicap time. This time will be deducted from the finish time of the athlete to determine the net handicap time.

Points are then awarded. Non-members and unfinancial members are permitted to start in these races, but will not receive points.

Handicap points are awarded as follows:

The Actual Times Competition

Actual time points are awarded as follows:

The Style Award Competition

A good style is a walker’s greatest asset and we as a club want to reinforce the importance of this aspect of racewalking. Hence, we ask each judge to award 3,2 and 1 points for the male and female walkers who walk with the fairest and best style each week. It does not matter in which event the walker is competing, nor does the age of the walker matter. A judge might award the 3 points to a 9 year old walker and the 2 points to an 80 year old walker!

What is a good style? We all have our own ideas but the ones best situated to decide are the judges. All points are collated in confidence by the Secretary and tallied week by week with a view to awarding Style Award Trophies at the end of the season for the ‘best’ stylists in the followng 4 categories

Note that yellow numbers in the range 481-500 are not allocated Style Points as they are 'Club Rules' walkers.
